Highway

The Town of Hartford has a total of approximately 185 miles of highways, including 45 miles of state highway. The remaining mileage of approximately 140 miles is the maintenance responsibility of the Town of Hartford, which is the highest of any community in the State of Vermont according to the most recent statistics.

Division Tasks
At this time, there are a total of 9 employees in the division. The tasks of the division employees include, but are not limited to:
  • Drainage installation and maintenance
  • General maintenance
  • Maintenance of both gravel and paved highways
  • Maintenance of highway rights of way
  • Pavement marking
  • Snow removal and treatment
  • Street sweeping
  • Vehicle maintenance
