Green Mountain RSVP & Volunteer Center
This non-profit organization matches volunteers, age 55 and over, with meaningful work at:
  • Hospitals
  • Libraries
  • Other non-profits
  • Schools
  • Towns
Volunteer Roles
We presently manage 1,059 volunteers at 234 work sites in the 3 southern Vermont counties. The volunteers work as:
  • Companions to elders living alone
  • Leaders of exercise classes for seniors
  • Literacy tutors for adults
  • Volunteers in:
    • Hospitals
    • Libraries
    • Museums
    • Schools
Whatever your experience, RSVP has a position for you. The time given can be an hour a week, or 40 hours - whatever works with your schedule. Sometimes volunteers work on a project, with a beginning and an end, so that they can travel and not feel tied down to a certain job each week. The work being done by volunteers in the 3 counties saves non-profits close to $1 million a year. Studies show that seniors who volunteer live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Program Sponsor
Our sponsor is the Green Mountain Community Network whose CEO, Donna Baker, has overseen Green Mountain RSVP since 1996. In 2006, RSVP of Bennington County merged with the RSVP offices in Windham and Windsor Counties, so that the organization now coordinates volunteer work throughout southern Vermont.
