The Hartford Police Department is one of 14 agencies in the State of Vermont that is a non-criminal Fingerprint Identification Center.
If you need a fingerprint-supported record check, please contact the hiring agency that is requesting the record check to determine whether they have an account with the Hartford Police Department. If the hiring agency has an account, they will schedule you a fingerprint appointment for you.
If the hiring agency does not have an account, call the Hartford Police Administration Division, 802-478-1940 to schedule your own appointment. Appointments are every Monday, 8:00 A.M. - 12 Noon and every Tuesday, 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., except on holidays.
Below are guidelines pertaining to being fingerprinted.
________________________________________________________________________________
-The Hartford Ident Center is housed within a law enforcement agency. Although appointments are scheduled every 20 minutes, and we strive to stay on schedule, there are occasional unexpected events that will prevent from us from staying on time.
-LEAVE CHILDREN AND INFANTS AT HOME. We do not have staff to supervise children who will need to remain in our lobby area, unattended, while you are being fingerprinted. We will be forced to cancel your appointment if you arrive with unattended children.
-Two forms of identification will be required. One form of ID must be a valid/current, government-issued photo ID. There is no exception.
-If you have been given fingerprint card/s to bring with you, do not fill them out, write on them or fold them.
-Bring with you the "Authorization Form" from the school or hiring agency authorizing the fingerprint appointment. THIS FORM MUST BE PRE-SIGNED BY THE SCHOOL AUTHORITY OR HIRING AGENCY.
-You can not be fingerprinted if you have open cuts to your fingers.
-Obtaining classifiable fingerprints for FBI analysis can be difficult. Good ridge details from all fingers must be obtained. An additional set of fingerprints may have to be taken if the technician is not able to get prints that can be classified. You may be directed to return in two weeks after following a treatment program that helps to enhance the ridge details. Should you have to return, it will be at no charge.
-Payment of $25 is expected at the time of being fingerprinted. Payment by check or money order is encouraged. Cash is discouraged. Credit cards will not be accepted. Payment is made payable to the Town of Hartford.
-If you are leaving with a fingerprint card you will need to take them to the hiring agency that is conducting your background check. Do not fold, staple or spindle the card. Protect the card by placing it in a suitably sized envelope.
If your fingerprints are obtained electronically, they will be immediately transmitted to the Vermont Criminal Information Center for processing to the FBI.
