Hartford Fire Department

Our Mission Statement: Excellence in Service

Welcome to the website for the Town of Hartford Fire Department. The Department protects 38 square miles and covers the five villages of White River Junction, Quechee, Wilder, West Hartford and Hartford that make up the Town. The approximate population is 11,000.

The Town of Hartford Fire Department employs twenty full-time employees and approximately ten call firefighters providing fire and advance life support services to the community. The Fire Department responds to approximately 1,700 emergency calls per year. The central fire station is manned and is located in White River Junction. There is also an un-staffed station in the village of Quechee.

In addition to the normal services provided by most fire service agencies, the Hartford Fire Department operates a technical rescue program that includes equipment and trained personnel to support emergencies that include heights rescue, confined space, trench, swift water and dive rescue as well as structural collapse. The Department operates as a mobile support unit for Vermont Emergency Management responding to events all across the State.

The Department has some of the most dedicated, caring and trained personnel equipped to handle any emergency faced. These individuals are committed to advancing the Department to be the best, and will settle for nothing less. I encourage you to stop for a visit or tour our facility; I am confident you will be impressed at the services our members provide.
