Background Checks
- In order to protect the citizens of Hartford, it is the policy of the Town of hartford to conduct criminal background checks of all volunteers and sub-contractors providing unsupervised care or services for vulnerable populations (youths ages 17 and under,) adults with disabilities and elderly). The Hartford Parks and Recreation Department will only select persons who are of good character and who have the skills and other qualifications necessary to fulfill their role. Providing a safe and enjoyable environment for children and all participants is a primary consideration in Hartford Parks and Recreation Department service decisions.

.....The Hartford Parks & Recreation Department publishes a program guide two times a year: February and August. These program guides are distributed throughout the Town of Hartford schools and can be found at the village post offices, libraries, and various "Mom & Pop" stores, as well as the Hartford Recreation Office.

Registration Information
Registrations for sports programs will be accepted on an on-going basis once the registration period begins. Registrations will be accepted up to the starting date of the specific athletic activity. Any registration request after the start of the program will be considered on a one-to-one basis and subject to a $15 administration charge. Consideration of new participants after the start of the program will depend on the number of available coaches, team sizes, playing spaces, equipment and uniforms.

Registration Guidelines
- Parent/Guardian signature required for youths 17 and under.
- REGISTER EARLY!
- Registration enrollment is limited (unless otherwise noted).
- REGISTRATION DEADLINE...we must meet our minimum enrollment # one week prior to start date of programs. If we have met the criteria we will continue open enrollment until the program is filled or class starts.
- If you cannot make it into the office for registration, call us and we will be glad to mail or fax you the forms and information.
- Mail-in registration form must be received four days prior to program's starting date.
- Fees are payable at time of registration.
- Fee arrangements can be made, contact the Recreation Office.
- Scholarship Assistance is available through the Recreation Office for Town of Hartford residents only.
- Nonresidents are accepted, if space is available, for specific programs.
- No telephone registrations accepted (unless otherwise noted).
- We afford equal opportunity to all people to participate in our programs.
- If you are a person with a disability and require accommodations, please contact the Recreation Director prior to the program's starting date.
- Residents are those whose primary home is located in the villages of Hartford, Quechee, West Hartford, White River Junction, and Wilder.
- Please be aware that program information is subject to change.
Refund Policy
If you are dissatisfied with a program after the first session (class), you must submit a written explanation to the Hartford Parks and Recreation Department prior to the second session (class) to be eligible to receive a refund. In the event of an extended illness or injury, we must be notified immediately and we will issue a prorated refund. A medical and/or doctor explanation will be required. We cannot issue refunds for trips, special events, ticketed events, Venture programs unless the person requesting the refund has found a replacement. No refunds are given for a single session course unless we are notified in writing immediately after the single session. Refunds will be issued for programs canceled or altered by the Hartford Parks and Recreation Department. An administration fee of $5.00 will be charged for all processed refunds.
