Town Q&A "Blog" - Questions for the Town!

Answered Thursday, January 6th

Q. How does one get an appropriation on the Warning for Town Meeting

To whom it may concern,

As a member of the Hartford High School Alumni Association Executive Board, I am interested to know how we can get an appropriation item on the listed of warned articles for the 2011 Town meeting. Specifically we would like to request an appropriation of $999 to support the upcoming annual Alumni Day parade on Saturday, June 25.

Can you please let me know the person we need to contact, what needs to be submitted, and what is the deadline?

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Erik Ferguson
VP, Hartford Alumni Association
A.

The first time a non-profit organization requests an appropriation, they must submit a petition with the required number of legal voter signatures.  The number of signatures needed to petition is approximately 425, based on 5% of the registered voters (8,490) in Hartford. A petition supporting an appropriation request must be received by the Town Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m., January 20, 2011.
