CLERK’S OFFICE-GENERAL INFORMATION 

Vermont State Statutes set the duties and responsibilities of the Town Clerk's office. The Town Clerk's office is responsible for:


o    Issuing dog licenses

o    Ordering ballots

o    Overseeing elections and counting votes

o    Receiving petitions and verifying legal voters

o    Receiving requests for absentee ballots and sending absentee ballots

o    Recording and maintaining all:

o    Deeds

o    Mortgages

o    Permits

o    Vital records

o    Temporary motor vehicle renewals

o    Updating and maintaining the voter checklist

o    Discharges

o    Easement deeds

o    Mobile home bills of sale

o    Mortgage deeds

o    Partial releases

o    Property transfer tax returns

o    Quitclaim deeds

o    Tax collector reports of sales

o    Warranty deeds
